Jennifer Sando - Wedding & Family Photography

I always thought that I was going to be a storyteller through writing. However, sometime in 2003, I fell in love with photography and it was a basic Pentax compact that got me there.

I was attracted to the art of composition, and the fact that the camera could produce a story scene instantly — a change from many hours of word-output which would leave me feeling as though I still hadn’t said what I needed to say.

My professional photo journey began with family portraits and events, before seizing an opportunity to do my first wedding in 2009.

Since then I have been published in various magazines such as Wedding Style Guide, SA Kids, Modern Wedding, Frankie, Cosmopolitan Bride, Barossa Bride and Brides Of Adelaide. I’m also accredited with the AIPP.

I photograph mainly with digital gear, but I have a deep appreciation for the analogue way. Therefore I shoot a lot of my personal work in 35mm or medium format film. I love to offer this format for my clients as well.

My other interest (aside from writing) is music, and I’m often shooting on the local music scene. In late 2012, I became an author of my first music photography book: Picture In A Frame: I’m Eddie Vedder. (I’m a huge Pearl Jam fan.) For examples of my music photography, please click here.

Even though I don’t play an instrument (too busy tinkering with my camera), everything in my life feels musical. A wedding could be a romantic lullaby, a crazy power ballad or a country tune filled with yearning, no matter the style — I love to hear about the story and capture all the notes.

I live in Adelaide’s East (South Australia) with my husband Adam and my 6 year old boy Xavier. My personal journal is called Create I Must, which you are welcome to follow if you would like to get to know me a little better.
